Memorial Verses
Faith-filled children have a simple, pure way of expressing hope in the face of death. If you’re looking for inspirational memorial verses and touching quotes for an upcoming funeral, or something uplifting to include in a sympathy card, read what these kids have to say.
The following kids were asked what heaven is like:
“Heaven is paradise. The weather is nice. It never rains. Nothing can go wrong. My dad will not have a scar in the middle of his head. We will be perfect." – Jake, 9
"Heaven is beautiful with no hurt or talking about people and no drugs. It is all good. You will be beautiful. Clouds are floating. Kids are laughing and praying with Jesus. You get everything you want, and you have beautiful voices to sing for God's glory. Sunflowers are everywhere. Streets are made of gold! And it smells heavenly." – Annslee, 11
"Everything is free. Everyone lives in a mansion. No one has to go to work. There are no house payments." – Christina, 12
From a six-part devotional on Psalm 23, here is a pertinent quote from a young Christian:
"'He leads me beside still waters' could mean he brings peace if you put your trust in him. So, if you're thirsty, you can go to him, and he will quench your thirst with his love and peace. He also provides rest for a troubled or weary heart." – Haleigh, 9
The following is a deeply touching example from the devotional called, “Why Do People Have To Die?”
How do you know if you're ready to go?
Listen to Rainey, 10: "I really don't know why some people die before others, but the important thing is not what age you are when you die. It's whether Jesus lives in your heart. If he does, you'll live with Jesus in heaven forever."
Rainey wrote this only a few months before she and her sister, Lacey Lipscomb, 8, went home to be with their Lord in a train crash in Bourbonnais, Ill., on March 15, 1999.
Ten-year-old Rainey and her sister didn't expect to see Jesus so soon, but they were ready. They now know more than ever the importance of having trusted the Lord Jesus with their eternal destiny.
Anyway, you see what I mean about how tender and untainted kids can be when they talk about death, heaven and God. They can really minister to people – even grown-ups!
