Food for the Hungry Featured in
Global Video Series for Children

Now Food for the Hungry can be seen online in a global mission adventure series for kids. The Mission Explorers Video Series is now streaming at www.KidsTalkAboutGod.org. It has been used in thousands of churches to introduce children to the work of missionaries.

“This 13-lesson series is perfect for Sunday School, Vacation Bible School or missions week,” says Carey Kinsolving, the producer and director of the series. “Food for the Hungry has the most compelling story in the entire series. When the American girl that we feature in the series says goodbye to her Food for the Hungry child in the Philippines, get out your Kleenex.”

This series is designed to show missions through the eyes and experience of 11-year-old Hillary Welborn, the winner of the Children’s Bible Contest.  More than 100 hours of video were shot on locations around the globe to produce this pioneering series.

“Instead of hearing about the work of missionaries, children experience real mission work through one of their peers,” says Kinsolving. “It’s the next best thing to actually going on a global mission trip yourself.”

In the video series, Hillary goes into the slums of Manila to meet the child she has been sponsoring for two years. When Kinsolving made a surprise visit to the Welborn’s house to announce that Hillary had won a global missions trip, he had no idea that Hillary had been sponsoring a Food for the Hungry child. At age nine, Hillary told her mother that she had enough toys. She wanted to sponsor a child. Hillary saved her birthday, Christmas and allowance money to sponsor a Food for the Hungry child.

The 13-lesson series is free to watch online. Food for the Hungry ministry leaders, missionaries, volunteers and child sponsors may want to show the video series to children in the churches they attend or visit. The Mission Explorers Video Series on DVD comes with a downloadable curriculum. A sample lesson may be requested online at no charge. The price for the DVD and 13-lesson curriculum is $95 plus $4.50 shipping. Some of the other mission organizations featured in the series include Awana Clubs International, Operation Mobilization, Trans World Radio, SIM International, TEAM, Ambassadors for Christ, Far East Broadcasting Company, Torchbearers and Pioneers.
